Lost is an American serial drama TV series, created by a famous producer J.J. Abrams. It was first broadcast on September 22, 2004. Since then it has become one of the most popular TV drama in the world.

The plot is about the lives of a group of plane crash survivors on a mysterious island. Instead of telling out the story normally, it often shows some flashbacks and flashforwards of a particular character in each episode. The fans of the show like this way of presenting because this is a new way of telling a story in a TV drama.

As an award-winning TV drama, Lost has fans all over the world. From a movie website “The Internet Movie Database”, the user rating of the show is 9.1 out of 10. Among a total number of 958 voters, there are 683 non-US voters vote for the show, from which we can see that the show has fans not only in the US, but also there is a huge number of fans in other countries.

There are many mysteries in Lost, unsolving these mysteries and inventing their own theories have become a phenomena among the fans. is one of the examples, which the builder of the site claims its theories are very accurate and closed to the writes’ idea of Lost.

Also, as the story of Lost is too big and involves many characters and incidents, some of the fans build a Lostpedia website, a website has the same function as Wikipedia, but is all about everything happens in the world of Lost.

These kinds of websites are mostly built by western fans of Lost. For the places out of US, the broadcast of the latest season of lost on TV is slower. Like Hong Kong, the most updated season is season 4, but US has already finished broadcasting season 5. So there are fans in China will help uploading the latest episode from US, with Chinese subtitle to share with all the fans.

For local fans like the fans in Macao and Hong Kong will only discuss the plot in online forum. They will read those theories that come from the fans of other countries but seldom create their own theories. Because Lost is so popular, famous HK website like and has a fans group for Lost fans to discuss the plot and theories.

Some of the fans will even create short video to tribute to the show. Like the below video edited by a fan, extracting the clips from Lost and mixes with the music from a comedy show Flight of the Conchords.

This is taken from a movie called “Pulp Fiction”, directed by Quentin Taratino.

The movie is about “Los Angeles mobsters, fringe players, small-time criminals and a mysterious briefcase”(wikipedia).

From this picture we can see the light on Samuel L. Jackson’s face mostly comes from left side, which his left face is nearly all black.

This lighting set up gives a dramatic atmosphere and Samuel L. Jackson a majestic look.
